Chirag Kharangate and his graduate student, Jarred Wilhite, a NASA GRC employee, have just been awarded the 2021 NASA Center Innovation Fund grant, "Advanced fluidic architectures for compact electronics".

Funded at $87K, the 1-year grant, starting on October 1, 2020, is a collaborative effort between NASA and CWRU and is led by Jarred at GRC. The project aims to develop a compact, actively cooled heat dissipation solution in silicon carbide to provide lightweight thermal management for advanced high-powered electronics for power conversion systems used in lunar and extreme environment applications. The technology is designed to significantly reduce pumping powers of the system, thereby improving efficiency while utilizing only 5% of traditional heat sink design mass.
